The High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP) is a pathway for students in Grades 10 to 12 to explore an apprenticeable trade while completing their academic graduation requirements. It provides students with practical training and real-world experience while employers fill key roles and gain access to impactful support programs.
This program is an extension and enhancement of regular apprenticeship training while being an integration of school and the workplace. This means it provides students with high school credits that can be used towards continued apprenticeship training after high school graduation.
Opportunities for Employers and Students
Hiring an apprentice is a win-win for students and the businesses that employ them. Many employers are struggling to find new staff due to post-pandemic labour shortages and have a hard time keeping the employees they can find. The High School Apprenticeship Program helps you find the support you need, and student-apprentices may choose to stick with their employers after the program. This helps you keep up with demand while saving you the time and money required to recruit and onboard short-tenure employees.

The program is focused on skilled trades -- careers in hands-on work with specialized knowledge. In addition to high school credit, students learn new, in-demand skills that can prepare them for a full-time job, a career in management or to start a business.
