Manitoba Seniors Hearing Aid Program
The Manitoba Seniors Hearing Aid Program provides eligible Manitobans with financial support up to $2000 towards the purchase of hearing aids.
Who is Eligible
Eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Be a resident of Manitoba, and be a Canadian citizen, or a permanent resident of Canada
- Be age 65 or over
- Have a household net income below $80,000 in the previous year
- Require hearing aids as prescribed by a certified hearing aid dealer licensed in Manitoba
What is covered?
Eligible applicants will receive up to $2000 towards the purchase of their hearing aid(s), hearing assessment, and fitting of the hearing aid(s).
If you have private insurance that covers the purchase of hearing aids, you may be eligible through this program as a second payer. The amount your private insurance covers will be deducted from the maximum $2000 payable.
How many claims can I make?
One claim of up to $2000 per person towards an eligible hearing aid purchase can be made every 5 years. In the interim, batteries, repairs, ear mold replacements, and loss or damage replacement costs will not be eligible.
Eligible hearing aid purchases must be made within 6 months of being approved for the program. If you are approved for the program but do not ultimately follow through with purchasing hearing aids within the 6 month period, you are welcome to re-apply at any time in the future.

If you are deemed to be eligible for the program, you will receive a letter in the mail indicating that you have been approved. You must bring this letter to your hearing aid dealer, who will apply the amount up to $2000 towards your purchase at the point of sale. Once they have supplied the hearing device to you, your hearing aid dealer will complete and submit a Seniors Hearing Aid Claim Form to the Manitoba Government on your behalf.
- For hearing aid purchases to be eligible under this program, the purchase must occur after an applicant is deemed eligible for the program, and claims made for transactions prior to June 7th, 2023 cannot be accepted retroactively.
