Fentanyl
It will take your breath away...forever.
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid narcotic. It can appear in the form of pills, powder or liquid and has contributed to or caused hundreds of deaths across the country. In Manitoba, law enforcement agencies have found illicitly manufactured fentanyl being sold in:
- pill form sold as fake oxy's and other club drugs
- powder form sold as heroin or fent
- powder form mixed into other drugs like cocaine, crystal meth, and on blotter papers disguised as "blotter LSD"
Manitoba is coordinating a provincewide response to the growing concerns over the illegal use of fentanyl and other illicit opioid drugs.
Naloxone is a medication used to block the effects of opioids (including fentanyl), especially in overdose.
