Sport, Culture and Heritage
Keeping our promises. Real progress for sport and culture.
Budget 2018 puts Manitoba's economy on the road to recovery and provides a solid plan for making Manitoba the most improved province in Canada.
We're investing in priorities that support sport and culture across Manitoba including:
- up to $20 million in community capital infrastructure funding for the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada;
- committing $5 million over three years to create the Manitoba Heritage Trust Program to engage community foundations across the province in raising private capital for community projects and organizations for Manitoba's museums and archives;
- continuing the competitive film and video production tax credit, and creating a working group with the film and video production industry to ensure the credit maximizes the industry's potential;
- maintaining the Cultural Industries Printing Tax Credit and the Book Publishing Tax Credit, and extending these credits until 2019;
- increasing investments in the International Curling Centre of Excellence (ICCE) in Manitoba to support and better train curlers and coaches to achieve world-class international performance; and
- eliminating administrative redundancies by readying for the elimination of the Manitoba Film Classification Board, in favour of a system that adopts film ratings already established by British Columbia.
